Instrument Name: Unknown

A large hollow cylinder is open on the bottom. There are threads on the inside of the cylinder, and a thick metal ring circles it about 2 cm from the bottom. The top has two metal slides that are mounted on springs such that they remain closed. A screw on the side, when turned, will push open the slides, making a long narrow slit that allows light to pass through the entirety of the cylinder.
