This object is a metal microtome blade stored in a rectangular wooden box made to fit two blades. There are remnants of paper labels stuck to the top of the box.

On the inside of the box lid, handwritten: “#3898″

Etched into the back of the blade: “MADE IN GERMANY” Partly visible: “C”
On a sticker applied to the back of the blade: “U. OF TORONTO PARASITOLOGY DEPT. A18″

Function:

This device was used to slice specimens in a microtome.

Condition:

Fair. The box of this item is scratched and marked, and its original label has been torn off. The blade is slightly tarnished and it is missing a corner on its sharp edge.
